This very week I was working on a project which had, believe it or not, support for 800x600 resolutions as a requirement. And the expansion of netbooks also brings the average resolution down a bit. So my advice would be: if you're redesigning an existing website, check the access statistics to get to know your audience and their setup; if it's a new site, it would be much safer to keep working on 960, at least for a while. @verolf
