Food in Japan
November 11th, 2008
This is a very interesting and amazingly well executed infographic video by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, explaining to the population the crisis they are currently facing regarding food habits, logistics and costs.
Entirely designed as an animation seen from an isometric perspective, the video’s visual language makes it concise and very clear. I believe it could be understood even without subtitles.
I suggest paying special attention to the transitions during the animation: they’re not only very clever from a design point of view, but they also convey the notion of how each of these problems are deeply intertwined, and must be dealt with in a holistic approach.
